The Vidourle, a coastal river, links the Gard’s Cévennes to the Camargue and its Mediterranean beaches, passing through our villages steeped in history…

Ancient Magnanerie « la maison des magnans » is named from an Occitan term which origin would be MAGNA from the verb MANGER (to eat). The « Magnan » is none other than the silkworm, a great eater of mulberry leaves. Thus began sericulture….
The Magnanerie, called at the beginning of the last century, the Great Magnanière has a rich history as a silk-farm… Very old farm building, it became a silkworm nursery at the time when the culture of the mulberry tree and the breeding of silkworms were of a great income for the county of SAUVE and the CEVENNES.
